You are your word, and I believe in following through on everything you say you’ll do for your clients. As a representative for the Palm Beach County CVB in the Mid-Atlantic region, I build relationships with meeting and convention planners and educate them about The Palm Beaches & Boca Raton. CVBs save planners research and discovery time because we are the experts on our destination.
Palm Beach is sometimes perceived as “too expensive,” but a client can secure fantastic rates, especially in the off-season. Sometimes planners may not even know about all the different cities and towns contained in Palm Beach County such as Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Palm Beach County offers 200 hotels, a beautiful convention center, easy air access and fun things to do. We have such a variety of hotels in all different categories and are known for exceptional and friendly hospitality. We have lots of unique and different, independent locations to choose from. Clients want to know if hotels are spending money on upgrades, and that’s great because so many properties in Palm Beach County are renovating. If you haven’t visited within the last couple of years, you will be amazed at what you find today.
Often, I invite the client down to Palm Beach County on a site visit. Once they see how beautiful our destination is, we can typically get them to book. We provide a site inspection airline ticket and hotel stay for any client with a lead over 200 room nights. To save you time, we’ll drive you around and show you offsite venues as well. And, all these services are free.
The Palm Beach County CVB is a non-profit who helps meeting planners book a meeting in Palm Beach County. I always discuss Palm Beach with any planner I meet and hand out our “With Our Compliments” brochure, which gives information about the complimentary services we provide. Meeting and convention planners are often surprised to learn that we offer personalized site tours; electronic group welcome signage at the airport; chocolates for VIPS with a letter from our Executive Director; and goodie bags for the attendees, including brochures of things to do in the county, a Palm Beach pen and our famous pink luggage tags. We can also assist in any required transportation needs.
If you send us your RFP, we’ll make sure that it goes to the hotels that match the group’s profile, follow up with the hotels on your behalf, set up a personalized site inspection tour, and help you promote the meeting once it is definite.
I’ve found that most clients have key ingredients to their decision making process, like room costs and sunny weather. I ask the client what their hot buttons are and how a hotel can win their business. It’s up to the sales person to glean as much information as possible so that hoteliers can get their best information out there. To become a trusted resource, it’s also important to narrow down options to save the client decision-making time.
Without a doubt, we work in one of the most fun industries in the world, especially if you love to travel. I have to admit that my clients and partners are great people and fun to be with. I try to stay in touch with them all the time and entertain them whenever possible. I’m constantly reaching out and hosting events. I enjoy getting to know people personally, as well as discussing business.
And after the meeting is over, I always follow up to see if the event ran smoothly.
