On behalf of the CVB industry, we look forward to the many opportunities that this new year will bring.
Soon, with the anticipated release of CIC’s Economic Significance Study (funded significantly through a grant from our Destination & Travel Foundation), we will have data to validate the economic significance of meetings in the United States. Utilizing this study and the “Face Time. It Matters.” campaign, we will have key messaging needed to illustrate the value of meetings and their contribution to the economy – a particularly important factor as cities, counties, and states contemplating reducing investments in meeting venues and in initiatives to attract meetings to their locales.
We hear regularly from planners that “doing more with less” remains today’s mantra… and there is no doubt that CVBs provide many time saving services, which may be largely unknown and untapped. To help bring awareness and exposure to these local experts…DMAI has launched empowerMINT.com, which aggregates 120+ destinations, simplifies your search for the perfect meeting space, and puts you in direct contact with destination experts who become an extension of your meeting planning team. You can also meet your destination experts face-to-face at Destination Showcase in both Washington, DC and Chicago.
There is no doubt that the meetings industry faces many issues today. In order to address these issues, partnerships will be critical. On behalf of the CVB industry, and as a committed partner to meeting professionals, we invite you to dialogue with us through the many CVB customer advisory board meetings that take place throughout the country and through our blog, www.meetingplannerpartners.com.
We are confident that together we will find ways to meet the challenges our industry faces and uncover new opportunities. Thank you for your continued support. We look to the year ahead.
