Their (CVBs) knowledge and expertise about the destination is unmatched.
Jeanmarie Kline, CMP, Director of Global Accounts at HelmsBriscoe has been in the industry she loves for 25 years. Prior to joining HelmsBriscoe in 2002, she was director of education and events for various state and national associations. Her love and appreciation for the planning industry began with her first job as a membership and meetings manager for the Society of Travel Agents in Government where she had an amazing mentor that taught her what it takes to succeed.
I asked Jeanmarie what would be her dream job outside the industry and she replied simply, “My dream job is actually doing what I am doing. I love the meetings and travel industry and can’t imagine myself doing anything else. I feel extremely fortunate that I have been successful in what I love and have found my niche. Now if I win the lottery – the dream job would be no job and just traveling.” I think we could all agree with that!
SUZZANNE: What’s the hardest/most challenging part of your job? What do you most enjoy?
JEANMARIE: I think with most planners, the most challenging thing is time management and multi-tasking. With 40+ clients I have to be extremely organized and pride myself on being one step ahead of them so that I can provide the best possible service.
SUZZANNE: How did you first become aware of the services CVBs provided?
JEANMARIE: I’m fortunate in that I’ve pretty much been aware of CVBs since I started in the industry. I’ve found over the years that they are a great resource and I highly recommend utilizing their services for any citywide or even a smaller group that needs the right restaurant or small venue. The CVB really knows all the ins and outs of their city.
SUZZANNE: What do you most value about your relationship with Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board and/or other CVBs in general?
JEANMARIE: The Valley Forge CVB is top notch! Their response time is excellent and their knowledge of their properties as well as the area resources and attractions is wonderful. If I have any destination question, I call them first. They save me time by not having to go online or make a bunch of calls to try and find the answer.
SUZZANNE: What do you think is unique about the value CVBs provide compared to other planning partners you might use?
JEANMARIE: CVBs are great because they provide an overview of the entire destination, not just one specific service or one specific hotel. Additionally, they are a tremendous resource when planning a site visit with being able to coordinate the transportation, site visit and accommodations. Their knowledge and expertise about the destination is unmatched.
SUZZANNE: What is most compelling to you as a planner about Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board as a meeting destination? What do your attendees have to say about Valley Forge as a meeting destination?
JEANMARIE: I’ve found that Valley Forge is really great for state and national associations! It’s a very meeting-savvy destination where industry partners work together to help ensure successful events. Attendees also love the location, with easy access to the area from the Turnpike as well as the Philadelphia Airport.
